This was the seed that would see the Hastings Machinery Exchange grow into what is now a third generation business. In 1972, Vin retired and handed over the running of the business to his sons, Cliff and Martin. By this time, the Hastings Machinery Exchange had abandoned general farm machinery to deal solely with water related products and services. They found a new site at 500 Omahu Road, and by early 1975 reopened the doors.
Cliff managed the servicing and installation of equipment, and Martin looked after the shop and istration. Keith had a special interest in water treatment to improve quality, and the company evolved again. In 2004, Martin passed away unexpectedly, and Stephen took on the task of running the shop and istration. By 2008, it was clear a new name was needed to define the business, and Harris Machinery became Harris Pumps Filtration.
Never a company to rest on its laurels, Harris Pumps Filtration continues to grow into the twenty first century. Systems and practices are being refined, and the shop has undergone a major refit. He has officially been with the company since 2001, but like his cousin, Stephen, has been heavily involved since childhood. Michael's background in electronics has brought essential skills to the team as machinery enters the digital age. He took over management of the shop and istration when his father, Martin, unexpectedly passed away in 2004.
He has a New Zealand Certificate of Engineering and a Business Diploma in Marketing. A fitter turner by trade, he grew up with the company, and took over from his father, Vin, in 1972. As a result of his immense knowledge and experience, Cliff has been banned from retiring, although he shows no signs of wanting to. He is a highly experienced service engineer having 17 years experience with Websters Lineworks
